imbX 2008 to Address Digital Convergence in a Vibrant Asian InfoComm and Media Market

 Week-Long Event Gathers Government Leaders, Business Personalities and Industry Professionals to Discuss and Experience Digital Convergence

SINGAPORE , 14 May 2008 – The Infocomm Media Business Exchange (imbX), Asia’s largest infocomm and media event will take place from 17 to 20 June in Singapore. The annual event will witness the gathering of the international ICT community including visionaries, government leaders, policy regulators and industry professionals who will share insights and discuss the next generation in digital convergence.

imbX 2008 remains to be the event-of-choice this year for the meeting of minds with a series of thought leadership forums and inter-government meetings. As Digital Convergence continues to drive innovation and change in Asia, telecommunications providers, media publishers and broadcasters are looking to address the new opportunities brought forth by new technologies. imbX is a choice platform for movers and shakers of the ICT and media industries to engage regulators about the challenges and opportunities in their related fields.

imbX will also present valuable opportunities for new and innovative businesses to reach audiences across the region and explore partnerships that may shape the technology and media landscape of tomorrow.

For the fourth consecutive year, imbX will host the Ministerial Forum on ICT , a closed-door meeting for Ministers and senior government officials throughout the Asia-Pacific and Middle Eastern regions. Organised by IDA, t he theme “ Broadband: Opportunities and Challenges”,will see i nvited industry experts share their views on the different approaches to rolling out broadband and lessons learnt from countries with high broadband penetration.

Showcasing Singapore’s Infocomm Capabilities
Launched two years ago at imbX, Singapore's iN2015 infocomm masterplan has since empowered the transformation of Singapore’s infocomm landscape with innovative ideas in various key economic sectors. Ideas that continue to change the way we work and communicate. As the key driver of iN2015, IDA continues to play a key role in creating new opportunities in Singapore’s infocomm technology industry.

Trade Exhibition Highlights
Held in conjunction with the largest ICT and media trade shows in Asia, CommunicAsia2008 and BroadcastAsia2008, imbX 2008 continues to serve as an effective, all-encom passing platform where visitors can preview the latest innovations on the Converged Digital Future and network with like-minded peers around the world to seek out new opportunities.

This year’s exhibitions will take up a total of eight halls at Singapore Expo, with more than 2,200 exhibiting companies and a combined total of 31 group pavilions. The trade exhibitions are expecting to draw more than 68,000 attendees, fifty percent of whom will be from overseas. CommunicAsia2008 and BroadcastAsia2008 will be demonstrating cutting-edge convergent technologies that are redefining the boundaries of traditionally-segmented telecommunications, networks, enterprise solutions and entertainment arenas.

Held for the second time alongside BroadcastAsia is CGOverdrive, Asia’s largest computer graphics event. CGOverdrive2008’s conference and hands-on practical masterclasses will once again feature a star-studded lineup of international CG artists sharing the secrets behind their successful endeavours as CG artists and professionals. A new addition to the show this year is the Business Forum which delves into the business mechanics of producing television series, feature films, and games. With the launch of the Business Forum, CGOverdrive will address both the technical and the business issues within the CG value chain.

Digital Convergence on Display at CommunicAsia2008
Reflecting the converging trend in the infocomm industry, CommunicAsia2008 together with EnterpriseIT2008 and InteractiveDME are uniquely positioned to offer the complete Digital Convergence Experience all under one roof.

Visitors to CommunicAsia2008 will get to see cutting-edge technologies and business solutions designed to enhance enterprises’ mobility and users’ lifestyles. Delegates will also be able to mingle with representatives from telcos and mobile operators, ISPs, enterprises and system integrators as well as experience the latest offerings in various technologies such as 3G, LTE, WiMAX, Broadband, FMC, FTTH, NGN, IP Technology, and Satellite and Security. The exhibition this year will feature its largest ever WiMAX and IPTV/Mobile Entertainment clusters.

This year, visitors will see the biggest ever 1,700 square metre Singapore Pavilion at CommunicAsia. The Singapore Pavilion will also be the biggest pavilion at the show.

IDM Innovation at BroadcastAsia2008
Innovation takes centre stage at BroadcastAsia this year, where the convergence of broadcasting technologies and communications has brought about opportunities for new services and experiences to emerge. Hosted by the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA), this year’s BroadcastAsia will feature the largest ever Singapore Pavilion. At 1,200 square-metres, the Pavilion will showcase, for the first time at BCA, the latest innovations centred on cutting edge Interactive and Digital Media (IDM) applications and services as well as the latest digital broadcasting technologies.

BroadcastAsia has grown to become one of the world’s premier events to showcase innovations in digital media and broadcasting, and is a must attend event for decision makers and opinion leaders. Similarly, Singapore’s participation in the event has grown and the Singapore Pavilion at BroadcastAsia - our largest to date - will showcase an exciting IDM exhibit and the latest digital broadcasting technologies IPTV, Mobile TV and High-Definition technologies.

Serving Singapore Infocomm Businesses
Riding on last year’s success, SiTF will be making a major presence in this year’s event within the Singapore Pavilion with more than 30 exhibitors, SiTF’s largest ever representation to date.

SiTF will also be bringing to delegates the iX 2008 conference. Industry experts will be holding panel discussions on the topics of virtualization, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) ; and explore the best ways to harness enterprise technologies.
